Origin

Indonesia

Ingredients

20 pieces with green dye
300g glutinous rice flour
65 mL lukewarm coconut milk
pinch of salt

Filling
150g Coconut blossom sugar

Coconut Coating
Desiccated coconut

Preparation

Start with the dough. Mix all the dough ingredients in along with the natural green coloring ‘dye’. Use the first 2 tbsp, if you would like more purple and more.
Knead the dough till it feels like a play dough consistency.
Once you’re done and made the dough, take 2 tbs of the dough and roll it into a round ball with your palms.
Now flatten this ball and fill it in with the middle of this flatten round dough with 1 tsp of coconut blossom sugar. Seal this ball like how you initially rolled it out with your palms, making sure that no sugar comes out.
Tap boiling water from the cooker in a pot, and set on heat. Once the water is hot and bubbling, drop these tiny balls into the water. It will sink, but you will know when it’s ready when they come up to the surface and start floating. This will take approximately 3-5 minutes.
Once your balls have finished boiling, take them out of the water and roll them into the coconut coating. Now you are ready to serve!
